PRODUCT MANAGER - Photogrammetry Products

Job Summary:
As Product Manager, you will guide a team that is charged with designing, developing and launching the LPS suite of photogrammetric software products. You must possess a unique blend of skills; a big-picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality, an understanding of how to solve customers' problems, the ability to translate customer problems into software requirements, and the ability to communicate and champion market needs within the organization. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand opportunities to improve customer workflows and productivity, and use this information to identify innovative solutions for the broader market.
Specifically, you will have responsibility for driving the direction of photogrammetric software products for ERDAS. This includes close interaction with a variety of highly technical individuals and organizations, including internal developers, managers, and directors, partners, customers, and data and service providers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Lifecycle Management
- Gather data detailing customer processes. Identify segments of the customer's process that are absent or that are poorly addressed in our products.
- Using input from different sources and groups within the organization and outside the organization, define and manage the requirements associated with the product.
- Manage all aspects of product planning and coordination in conjunction with multiple organizations within the company.
- Manage the product lifecycle using ROI and other metrics to guide business decisions.
- Create all necessary documentation as part of the product planning process including requirement documents, opportunity assessment, and product plans.
- Utilize personal expertise and background to contribute technical and business information to other product lines as needed
Market Analysis
- Work with key customers and prospects to identify unsolved problems in the market and evaluate their urgency, pervasiveness, and value to the market. Recommend innovative approaches to solving those problems.
- Perform product competitive analysis documenting strengths and weaknesses and methods of positioning.
- Aggregate information from various sources to develop mid to long term projections of market direction and needs.
Product Promotion
- Develop and deliver capability presentations within ERDAS and for the public
- Represent ERDAS at trade shows and participate in industry working groups
- Maintain and enhance the portfolio of product line collateral such as PowerPoint slides, technical documentation, web content, and movies.
- Support sales with targeted customer visits and demonstrations
Key Interfaces
- Work with customers, prospects, and sales to help formulate and develop the product strategy.
- Work with product development to design and plan the implementation of the products.
- Work with product marketing to define and develop sales tools, value proposition, white papers, promotions, webinars, online demonstrations and other marketing collateral.
- Facilitate communication amongst the management team, product development, product management, and business development with respect to vertical market strategies and solutions development.
- Interact with external technical specialists to glean and provide expertise.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation.
- Knowledge of GIS and mapping industry.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance is preferred.
- Formal education in Geomatics (Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, GIS) or closely related field
Desired Experience and Knowledge:
- Practical experience in a photogrammetric production environment, performing a variety of tasks such as triangulation and data extraction, technical supervision, production process development, customer interface, training, and project management, proposal development. 5+ years of experience is preferred.
- Experience performing geospatial defense workflows in a classified environment.
- Knowledge of industry data types and formats.
- Experience using LPS or other digital photogrammetric software products. Experience using ERDAS IMAGINE and ArcGIS products is preferred.
- Experience in writing software requirements
- Experience with customer facing activities including presentations and demonstrations.
- Experience writing software and/or scripts
