Senior Systems Architect

Job Description:
ERDAS is seeking a talented, motivated Systems Architect to join our agile enterprise development and support team, designing and developing advanced enterprise (SOA) solutions for geospatial data management (imagery, vectors and terrain) and web delivery. Major Responsibilities:

  • Working as a member of a delivery / services team out of our Alexandria VA office, along with comprising software architects and engineers, QA engineers, release engineers and technical writers to develop enterprise products across a wide range of application servers, platforms, databases, and web clients, in coordination with development teams in Atlanta, USA and Liege, BE.
  • Involvement in the full lifecycle of software development using agile software development methodologies with a heavy emphasis on system requirements analysis and systems architecture.
  • Assisting with the development of system specifications and proposal development.
  • Technical Management of enterprise solution development projects.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • MS in Computer Science or BS with 5+ years experience
  • 5-7 years of Java and J2EE software development and systems architecture.
  • Strong software engineering skills, including object-oriented programming and design patterns/techniques with emphasis on Java / J2EE technology.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Hibernate, JMX, JMS, Log4J, AJAX, JSF and system design.
  • Excellent application performance tuning skills.
  • Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, DB2 or MS SQL).
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies a plus.
  • Experience in geospatial sciences and/or developing applications for GIS/CAD/LBS a plus.
  • Breadth of knowledge across Java open-source technologies including Spring, XML parsers, SOA based infrastructure, Maven, JUnit, HTTPUnit, etc.
  • Experience working in Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Good design and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly motivated team player.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Eligibility and Ability to obtain US Security Top Secret Clearance.
  • Local travel, some Continental US travel and limited International travel.
