Account Manager – Mapping

Surveying And Mapping, Inc. (SAM, Inc.) is an established Land Surveying, Aerial Mapping, and SUE firm specializing in large-scale corridor/route surveys for electric transmission, oil & gas, rail, and highways. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, and with more than 200 employees, our diverse client base and strong regional presence has positioned us for continued growth.

We are searching for an ambitious Sales Representative with a proven track record of success in the Geospatial industry.

Position Summary:

This position will report directly to the Director of Aerial Mapping Department Manager and will be responsible for the development and growth of new business for Aerial Mapping, Mobile Mapping and LiDAR opportunities across the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to drive maximum sales/business development efforts with new and existing clients using a variety of sales methods including: cold calling, relationship building, tradeshows, active participation in industry associations, etc.
  • Devise sales strategies and promotions to exceed sales projections
  • Ability to comprehend client requirements and translate those requirements into profitable solutions by determining customer needs, volume potential and pricing schedules
  • Participate in writing proposals, prepare bids, process specifications, and test exhibits that may be required
  • Negotiate contracts with clients and request amendments to or extensions of contracts and bring projects to completion
  • Forecasting and reporting sales activity
  • Build on existing business relationships and contacts with all federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Continually evaluate the market position of competing products, services, and organizations to maintain competitive position
  • Remain current on changes within the industry through publications, periodicals, technical meetings and conferences
  • Project a professional image and attitude and maintain highest ethical standards when representing the Firm.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to travel extensively — up to 50%
  • Knowledge of and experience selling in a variety of market sectors including: Transportation, Oil and Gas, Electric Transmission, and Municipalities
  • Broad knowledge of Aerial mapping, photogrammetry
  • Strong interpersonal skills to drive cross functional teams and meetings
  • Must have excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Creative writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including: Excel, Power Point, Word are essential

Required Experience and Education:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the Geospatial industry
  • 5+ years of proven sales success in the Geospatial industry
  • Preferred 4-year degree in Geography and/or Business Administration
  • Preferred CP — Certified Photogrammetrist and/or GISP — GIS Professional
