Committees focus on issues affecting the membership or the association. Members are encouraged to participate and provide input on the topics presented by the committee. All MAPPS Committees are open to members with interest and expertise in the topic areas with the exception of the Program Committee, Legislative Affairs Committee and MAPPS PAC. These committees are appointed by the President and seek input from the membership.

Shall provide a forum for members involved in the acquisition of imagery and data from aerial platforms; identify issues for presentation to the MAPPS Board and take such action on issues as directed by the MAPPS Board; recommend policies to be taken by the MAPPS Board; oversee action in Congress on the FAA Reauthorization Bill and provide input to the Program Committee on sessions, speakers and topics to be addresses at MAPPS conferences affecting aerial photography.

 Registered Members

Associate Members Committee shall provide a forum for the principals of Associate Member firms in MAPPS to assure that these firms are fully integrated in the activities of MAPPS; be a vehicle for the MAPPS Board to solicit these members input on issues; provide input to the Program Committee on sessions, speakers and topics to be addresses at MAPPS conferences affecting Associate Members interests, and assist the Board and Membership Committee in recruiting new Associate Members to MAPPS.

Commercial Remote Sensing & Licensed Data Committee shall provide a forum for members involved in the operation of commercial remote sensing satellites and those offering licensed geospatial data in the marketplace.

Emerging Markets Committee shall identify new markets and demands for geospatial services, data and technologies.

Federal Procurement Committee shall monitor activities in Federal procurement, track changes in the FAR, identify problems and recommend to the MAPPS Board, Legislative Affairs Committee and staff.

GEOINT Committee shall provide a forum for MAPPS member firms engaged in providing geospatial intelligence data, products, services and technology.

Government & University Competition Committee shall monitor activities by Federal, state and local government agencies, as well as universities, wherein such entities perform activities that are commercial in nature and unfairly compete with the private sector.

Develop recommendations on geospatial data that would be essential to our nation's transportation system for including in the Highway Bill Reauthorization.

International/Exporting Committee shall develop programs and activities to facilitate MAPPS member firms ability to participate in exporting and engaging in projects outside the United States.

Legislative Affairs Committee shall assist the MAPPS Board and staff in developing the annual Federal legislative agenda for MAPPS. This committee is appointed by the MAPPS Board but seeks input from entire membership.

Licensing of Photogrammetrists Committee shall monitor the activities of NCEES, state legislatures and other bodies involved in issues affecting the licensing of photogrammetrists and other geospatial practitioners.

MAPPS PAC shall seek annual participation from members in the PAC, evaluate political candidates and recommend candidates for support.

The Inner Circle (IC) is a special group of geospatial community leaders who contribute $1,000 to the MAPPS PAC. Inner Circle contributors are treated to a dinner each year at the MAPPS Federal Programs Conference, participate in special briefings at the winter and summer meetings and receive special e-newsletters.

Membership Committee shall work with staff to design, develop and implement programs to promote membership in MAPPS.

Past President’s Committee shall provide an institutional and historic viewpoint to the President of MAPPS and the MAPPS Board on issues as requested by the President. Must be a Past President of MAPPS to participate.

The program committee is responsible for coordinating the sessions at the MAPPS Summer and Winter Conferences. The program committee seeks input from the membership on a variety of topics including business trends, technology, best practices and networking.

State Chapters Committee shall lead the effort to create MAPPS state chapters based on the model established in Pennsylvania.
