MAPPS is pleased to announce the schedule for its major events for 2016. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for the best networking, continuing education, and business-to-business information sharing in the geospatial community.
The 2016 Winter Conference will take on a new look and feel. To be held Sunday, January 31 through Wednesday, February 3 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson, Nevada, this conference will have all the usual programs and activities of a MAPPS Winter Meeting, with three major improvements and revisions. First, sessions will extend longer each day, but will conclude with networking activities that will welcome spouses (and there will still be a separate spouse program). Second, the program will have two tracks – one for principals, owners and partners and a second for emerging leaders – those currently in middle management positions who are the next generation of principals, owners and partners in MAPPS member firms. Third, while maintaining the usual quality of MAPPS conferences, we will be able to offer a lower price and greater value by (a) holding the conference in Las Vegas where airfares are significantly lower than many other cities, (b) providing a hotel rate that is lower than is usually the case at MAPPS, and (3) offering a registration fee less than recent MAPPS winter conferences and including a 2-tiered rate for principals and next generation managers. Details will follow shortly.
“Federal Programs Conference” – National Conference with NSPS
Building on the success of the 2015 joint conference with the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) last Spring, MAPPS and NSPS will again be in the Washington, DC area on March 14-18, 2016. We will return to the Crystal City Hilton Hotel. This conference will include exhibits and sessions throughout the week. The traditional MAPPS “Federal Programs Conference" will feature Federal agency briefings and agency liaison meetings on Tuesday, March 15 and visits to Congressmen and Senators on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, March 16. For preliminary information, click here.
In keeping with a longstanding MAPPS tradition, the members present at the 2015 Summer Conference voted to select Traverse City, Michigan as the site of the 2016 summer gathering. The conference will be Saturday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 20 at the Grand Traverse Resort. Information will be posted soon on the MAPPS website.
Based on input we received from the membership, improvements are being built into each of these conferences. We look forward to your participation in these events. As details on each event are finalized, information will be shared through email notices and on the MAPPS website.
