MAPPS Aviation Legal Services Plan
MAPPS has entered into an agreement with The Aviation Law Firm (the "Firm”) to provide a legal services plan (the "Plan”) for the purpose of addressing aviation related legal issues concerning the association and its membership. The Firm, which is based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is managed by Gregory "Greg” Winton, Esq., a former trial attorney for the FAA and U.S. Department of Justice.
Under the terms of the agreement, MAPPS will receive counsel to address aviation and aerial acquisition related legal issues raised by the membership. In addition to the services provided to MAPPS, the agreement also extends Plan benefits to firms in MAPPS to address a firm's own issues, at a discounted fee rate. A minimum contribution in the amount of $250.00 per year is required to participate in the MAPPS Plan. This contribution may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. (Consult your firm attorney or tax adviser.) Members that participate in the Plan will have the ability, working with the MAPPS Board of Directors and staff, to have the Firm address legal issues in aviation that affect the aerial acquisition community. Participation in the Plan is open to all MAPPS who financially contribute to the Plan.
Topics that may be addressed through the Plan include, but are not limited to:
-LIDAR compliance with the FAA
-FAA Ramp check uniformity
-Uniform operations guidelines for aerial photography missions
-UAV certificates of authorization
As an exclusive added benefit to participating in the Plan, MAPPS members will be able to retain The Aviation Law Firm at a substantially reduced rate of $250 per hour, for their own, individual aviation related legal matters. MAPPS members that do so will be required to sign a separate retainer and representation agreement directly with The Aviation Law Firm.
