Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
In 2009 President Obama launched the "Educate to Innovate” campaign, a nationwide effort to help reach the administration’s goal of moving American students from the middle to the top of the pack in science and math achievement over the next decade. The initiative was created to "motivate and inspire young people across the country to excel in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)".
This pillars are the core to geospatial, however, geography was left out of this program. MAPPS has been advocating for geography to be included in the STEM program.
