The Emerging Leaders Program is an educational forum provided by MAPPS for young geospatial professionals to help them learn the practical skills needed to better manage a geospatial project or enterprise.  Emerging Leaders courses are provided in a variety of venues designed to encourage the greatest possible participation among eager geospatial professionals. Anyone with a desire to become a more important assets to their firm by equipping themselves with the skills needed to better steer projects, groups, and organizations through the modern policy, financial, and legal landscape of shifting challenges is encouraged to participate.

A three-year curriculum has been developed covering topics such as: Leadership Fundamentals, Business Ethics, Contract Risk Mitigation, Finance for the Non-Financial Manager, Analytics for Business Forecasting, Managerial Accounting, Marketing, Operations Management, Sales Management, Business Law, Negotiation and Diplomacy, Communication Skills Boot Camp, and Project Management. Each highly interactive course is taught by geospatial professionals and educators that understand the challenges and opportunities that characterize modern geospatial businesses. Upon completion of each course and the entire curriculum, students obtain continuing educational credits that can be used for ASPRS and GIS-P certifications.
