"Engaged in the geospatial profession" means any firm that has as one of its purposes the creation, collection, dissemination or application of geo-referenced graphical or digital data to depict natural or manmade physical features, phenomena, or boundaries of the earth, geospatial intelligence, and any information related thereto, including any such data that comprises a survey, map, chart, geographic information system, remotely sensed satellite or aerial image or data.
Any firm engaged in the manufacturing and/or supplying of geospatial equipment, services, supplies, hardware or software, that supports but is not engaged in the geospatial profession, any firm not engaged in but with an interest in the geospatial field, and any firm meeting the definition of "engaged in the geospatial profession" whose office(s) is (are) located outside of the United States of America may become an Associate Member by making written application to the MAPPS President accompanied by payment of one year's dues.
Associate Partner Program
The MAPPS Board of Directors have received feedback from Associate Members that an annual bundle membership package would be beneficial. Therefore, new in 2019, Associate Members can make a one-time contribution to MAPPS which includes discounted conference registrations, annual dues, and sponsorships. Also included in the Partner Program is a membership contribution to the new Ascent Program which provides support to the continued association management transition, and expenses needed to increase MAPPS visibility at trade-shows and within the geospatial community. A summary of the Ascent Membership Program can be downloaded here.
The Partner Program offers Associate Members an easy and well-defined method of supporting MAPPS. This program offers each category of Associate Member firms the ability to bundle their membership, registrations and sponsorships into one annual payment. A one-page summary of the Associate Partner Program can be downloaded here.
Any individual who would otherwise qualify for membership as a Regular or Associate Member, but is not affiliated with any firm that would qualify for membership as Regular or Associate Member, has no employees, is engaged in consulting in or to the geospatial profession, and provides a consulting service of interest to the geospatial profession.
Any individual who has been an officer of a firm which has been an active or associate member firm for at least the preceding five consecutive years, who has reached the age of 60 years, who has retired from such firm and is no longer engaged in a full time practice in the geospatial profession may become an Emeritus Member by making written application accompanied by payment of one year's dues. Aside from serving on the MAPPS Board of Directors, Emeritus Members have the same rights and privileges as Regular Members.
MAPPS Membership Enhancements
MAPPS also offers several optional enhanced levels of membership to increase your firm's participation, exposure and marketing among your peers and potential partners and clients. Take a few moments to review each of these options and additional opportunities. You will have an opportunity to choose these enhanced levels after choosing the most appropriate membership category for your company above.
Help MAPPS Ascent to Greater Heights! The Ascent Membership Program is a method for member firms to help increase the positive impact that MAPPS has in the geospatial community. The new Ascent Program replaces the old Sustaining Member Program with better benefits, purpose and transparency. Although this is a voluntary membership contribution, the Board sincerely encourages that all members participate annually, because the purpose and need for the contribution is dynamic. That is, annual contributions will be used to support important operating, growth and initiatives each year. The MAPPS Board will be highly transparent and report, at the Annual Meeting where Ascent contributions are being leveraged. A one-page summary of the Ascent Membership Program can be downloaded here. You may select an Ascent level when applying under "Membership Modifiers". If you are a current member of MAPPS and would like to add an Ascent level to your current membership, please contact Lisa Blair at email@example.com.
