
MAPPS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Application Deadline - Wednesday, June 3, 2026
MAPPS is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Board of Directors 2026-2028 term.
When considering candidates, the Nominations Committee shall evaluate the following qualities in candidates for the MAPPS Board of Directors:
- Reflect and represent the broad range of member firms of MAPPS.
- Be senior executives in their firms (principals, owners, or partners) with profit/loss and decision-making responsibilities.
- Has the management, resources, and support of the firm to serve the entire Board term.
- Is able to attend all in-person and virtual meetings and commit the necessary time to fulfill the responsibilities of a Director, both during and outside of Board meetings. The Board typically meets monthly, with four in-person meetings (three conferences and the fall Board Retreat) and the remaining meetings held virtually via Teams.
- Be experienced in the geospatial field and recognized and respected by their professional peers.
- Represent a broad range of firm sizes within the membership, professional service disciplines, geographic regions across the United States, and diverse backgrounds—including gender, age, race, and other characteristics—so that the Board reflects the full diversity of the membership. Small businesses are strongly encouraged to apply for the open Board positions.
- Has management, finance and political acumen to effectively provide oversight to the Association while actively engaging with our Board and our members and promote MAPPS to expand our membership within the entire geospatial community.
- Be active in MAPPS and demonstrate commitment to the association by active meeting participation (speaker, committee member, political advocacy, sponsorship, PAC, excellence awards, etc.), and be knowledgeable about the association; and,
- Be from a firm (or family of firms with common ownership relationships) that is not currently represented on the MAPPS Board to spread among the member firms an equitable opportunity to participate on the Board.
- Applicant’s firm is current with membership dues and will maintain a current active membership for their term of service.
MAPPS members who are interested in serving the association as a member of the Board of Directors should submit an application online here by June 3, 2026.
MAPPS also thanks the following directors with expiring terms for their time, commitment, and contributions to further the MAPPS Mission. Directors with expiring terms may reapply for another term through this Call for Nominations.
Nomination Process
- Individuals who wish to be considered for election to the MAPPS Board can submit a MAPPS Board of Directors application below no later than June 3, 2026.
- The Nominations Committee evaluates and ranks those that formally applied.
- The Nominations Committee will announce its recommended slate of candidates by June 20, 2026.
- The election of Directors will take place at the annual business meeting of MAPPS during the 2026 Summer Conference scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, in Big Sky, MT.
- Any individual not nominated by the Nominations Committee can be considered by a nomination from the floor at that meeting, if notice is filed with the MAPPS President (Renee Walmsley) by July 13, 2026.
- Board positions are 2-year terms, and there are no term limits. Terms begin directly after the summer conference.
- Directors with expiring terms may seek re-election by expressing their intentions to the 2026 Nominations Committee via our application process.
